The director of the musical wanted an enticing poster that embodied gritty sexuality in a minimal poster-something that would make passerby's say: "Wait, what the hell is this?" and look further into the poster.

With my poor drawing abilities sufficing as skeletons for the shots, we developed some potential shots for the poster, styles we wanted, fonts, and other notes to be prepared for the shoot. We knew our strongest bet was an overhead shot where the cast would lay on the floor and look up at the camera. It sounds easy enough on paper but harder to execute than we thought. Much of the shoot was me either being afraid of getting the bright yellow ladder I was standing on in every shot or accidentally dropping the camera onto the pile of cast members.

Below are a few of the unedited main shots we considered. In the end, we thought the bottom right corner shot gave us the most interesting composition to work with for a large print poster.

This was another concept we came up with incase the original idea was not accepted by BU Student Activities Organization. It contained most elements we wanted to capture that are also in the original, but it was more focused on an individual rather than a face among a large crowd of entangled arms, legs, and torsos that ourselves and the director wanted.

We wanted to also give a huge thank you to the entire cast and creative teams of Cabaret and Boston University on Broadway for trusting us with the main poster. There were so many moving parts to this photoshoot; we were lucky enough to be able to play a part in it!
Thank you for taking the time to check out our project! We hope you enjoyed our work, and we hope you explore more of our websites below!
